But the immediate surroundings of Residenza del Moro are filled with art and charm: within 200 meters is the Church of Santa Maria Novella, overlooking the square of the same name with its lovely facade by Alberti, architect also of the Tempietto del Santo Sepolcro, the precious gem in the Cappella Rucellai in the Church of San Pancrazio on Via della Spada, now deconsacrated and dedicated to a museum of the sculptor Marino Marini's works.

Palazzo Strozzi, one of the most beautiful examples of civil Renaissance architecture in Florence, sits on Via Tornabuoni. With its softened fortress-like appearance, with smooth rustication and large mullioned windows on the upper floors and a beautiful arcaded courtyard, it is now home to important temporary art exhibits. Via Tornabuoni is also famous for its boutiques of Italian and international designers, with jewelry, clothing and accessory shops for the most exclusive shopping fans.

Strolling in the evening is also pleasant, to experience the true feeling of the city in its Medieval narrow streets and alleys with the typical artisan workshops, where the arts of jewelry making and engraving, working with scagliola stone and leather and many other crafts are handed down from father to son; the wine bars, where the wonderful Tuscan reds can be sampled including Chianti, Brunello, Morellino and Sassicaia, and restaurants and trattorias for tasting the traditional recipes of Florence's cuisine such as zuppa (hearty vegetable soup), acquacotta (literally cooked water, actually a vegetable soup), carabaccia (onion soup) and the famous bistecca alla Fiorentina (thick cut of steak).

By plane Residenza del Moro is 10 km from Florence's International Amerigo Vespucci Airport. We suggest guests take a taxi or contact our Concierge to reserve a car and driver. By train Residenza del Moro is 400 meters from Santa Maria Novella train station. We suggest guests take a taxi or reserve a private transfer through our Concierge. Or in less than 10 minutes guests can walk to the Residenza: stay to the right and take Via Panzani, then Via degli Avelli and cross Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Take Via dei Fossi and then turn left on Via della Spada. Via del Moro is on the right after 10 meters. You have arrived, the Residenza del Moro is at no. 15. By car From the freeways, exit at Firenze Certosa and follow the signs for the center (Centro) until reaching the Piazzale di Porta Romana. Go through the old gate, take Via Romana and continue straight along Via Maggio, cross Ponte Santa Trinita and turn left on Lungarno Corsini. After 300 meters turn right into Piazza Carlo Goldoni and continue straight until hitting Via del Moro. Residenza del Moro is after 200 meters.
